Monthly Show & Tell

How our Show & Tell works ...

Our group is all about sharing your passion for all things embroidery/needlework/fabric arts. Our Show & Tell is both in person at our meetings and online via email to members. We like to share new projects people have completed as well as interesting finds, from books and secondhand art found in thrift shops, to podcasts and website!

Each year, participation in Show & Tell earns you an entry into a draw for a fully paid for membership for the following year. You get one ballot submission per month (regardless of how many items you bring at that time to a meeting or share online), but it only takes one entry for you to win.

Each month we ask our members to bring a recently completed item(s) to show off!

This November it was small but mighty! Many of our members are currently working to finish up workshop projects from this year's Seminar in Winnipeg.

This September we showed off many of the pieces we submitted to Stampede as part of our Stampede Art Show Challenge 2023. Freda Murfin challenged every member to submit at least 1 piece to the art show ... we had lots of success and many participated! Next year ... more!!

Stampede Art Show - July 5th to 14th, 2024

Each year the Calgary Stampede hosts an Western Showcase Art Show that features artists from across Alberta. Along with the photography, painting and sculpture there is a Creative Arts & Crafts Completion.

The Calgary Stampede Creative Arts and Crafts competition was borne out of the tradition of displaying creative works in a country fair. The display and judging of the arts and crafts engages the community with the Calgary Stampede and supports our western heritage, and has been showcasing the work of local crafters for more than 40 years. This exhibition preserves traditional art forms and advances new and modern forms of creativity including textiles, wood, ceramics, paper and sugar.

Our Guild volunteers demonstrated some of the embroidery techniques we stitch at these locations:

Stampede Challenge - 2024

This year we have challenged our Guild members to participate in the Stampede Arts & Crafts competition and, as a thank-you to Freda Murfin, to stitch and enter one of Freda's canvas work designs.
