Every year we celebrate fibre crafts by stitching in public during the Stampede in Calgary. Join us at the BMO centre on Monday and view all the great work submitted to the Western Showcase Art Show. On the last weekend of Stampede we have volunteers at the Heritage Cabin stitching on the porch and inside. For Spring 2022 Edmonton is hosting an online event Jun 4 & 5th ... with 4 guest speakers, 2 store virtual visits & 2 project classes this will be a fun event

Due to the uncertainty with Covid19 restrictions Edmonton decided to go online again.

Calgary is looking to host in person for June 2023!
Calgary Autumn 2021 Fibre Potpourri Event - Letter from the President
Hello Everyone!
I would like to introduce you to Fibre Potpourri - a weekend retreat normally held in June at Red Deer College in Alberta. This event is hosted alternately by the Calgary Guild of Needle & Fibre Arts and the Edmonton Needlecraft Guild. During Covid19 we have moved the event online using the Zoom platform and this past spring Edmonton hosted a great event. Now that fall is here we wanted to do another event, this time hosted by Calgary.
Our Event will be October 16th and 17th. The theme is "Level Up: Crafting to Artist '' and is a behind the scene look at the design process. We will be leading people through a self directed weekend project based on the beautiful fall colours in nature. Or you can work on your own projects while listening to our speakers.
We are welcoming some designers to give talks and demos on their design process. Including Freda Murfin: Canvaswork Designer, Debbie Fitzsimmons: Metis Designer and Natalie Dupuis: Goldwork Designer.

OMG! It was so good to get together with everyone at FP19. We had lots of fun with our Sound of Music Theme including a Sing-A-Long movie night with popcorn and Movie Themed Banquet table names!!

Thank you to everyone who helped out for the event or attended!! It's now Edmonton's turn to host for FP20!!

2018 was hosted by Edmonton who maintained our move from Olds, Alberta to Red Deer. We are now renting a larger, more light filled space. The event includes both classes and a retreat option. There are meal plans to purchase or you can drive the main street of Gatz Avenue for many restaurant options.
​
Friday is a retreat day for all participants with an evening "Garage Sale" style market. Saturday and Sunday are class days with Boutique vendors open during the day.

2017 was the first year we moved the venue to Red Deer College after many years at Olds, Alberta. Red Deer College offered the amount of space and light which was perfect for our event. We created a large 'Living Room" style stitching area for Retreaters and the Classrooms were located just off the space. Our Boutique vendors loved the large light filled rooms and our Friday evening Market was well received.
​
We started the weekend with a Friday retreat afternoon for everyone to visit and mingle. Our Saturday Banquet included a Sashiko Mini Project that many people started after dinner. We also have silent auction to benefit "Days for Girls" our charity for that year.
​
The accommodations on campus were perfect for after dinner visiting, but most of us spent the evening in our event space stitching.
